What’s going on for Earth Day 2024?

How Girlguiding members are taking action

10 April 2024

We know that girls want to take action for the environment. That’s why, on Earth Day 2024, members from across Girlguiding will be getting involved in a range of activities.

Take a look at the list below to find out what’s going on for Earth Day, and other ways countries and regions are exploring sustainability.

Anglia

Girlguiding Anglia are celebrating Earth Day with exciting days out at 3 of the RSPB’s nature reserves in the region. Girls can enjoy a range of outdoor activities, explore unique environments, and get up close and personal with nature! You can find out more on the Girlguiding Anglia website.

London and South East England

Girlguiding London and South East England are working on a video podcast with the RSPB. For Earth Day, they’re asking young members to let them know what they’d like to ask the RSPB. If you're a Guide or Ranger in the region, keep your eyes on their website for how you can submit your questions on Earth day.

Midlands

Girlguiding Midlands have been getting out and listening to members about the environment. They’ve been taking suggestions from members about how to improve environmental sustainability locally and at a region level. Everyone taking part will receive a badge to recognise their contribution. They’ll be sharing some snapshots of what they’ve heard on Earth Day.

North West England

Girlguiding North West England have launched a competition to encourage young members to invest in the planet. A winner from each section will be chosen to receive eco-friendly prizes. If you’re in the region, find out more and apply on the Girlguiding North West England website.

Girlguiding North West England are also committing to making zero negative impact in their region trips in 2025. Visit their website to find out more about their journey to zero initiative.

Scotland

Girlguiding Scotland are challenging members to try active, sustainable transport methods through their partnership with Sustrans Scotland. Find out more and get involved on the Girlguiding Scotland website.

On Earth Day, we’ll be sharing more information about our commitments to help us reduce our impact on the environment, as well as other ways that we can take action together to help our planet.
